marking the calendar, i see 30 crosses, time to update.

I think Im gonna talk about how i spent hours during the midnight searching for a new appropriate layout for the blog, but by that time this goes onto publishing they probably got bored of the new layout already, id stop here. consider collecting informations of friends updates to be like building up the eighty-eighth storeys twin tower this has got to be on the bottom ten. if only you get what i mean.

i've lost the muse, and the magic of being able to convey my feelings through words, vanished. as much as good writers still inspire me of how they channel their thoughts with the pen ink, i find the current pain, to gather my mind from many lil pieces of tiny fractions, squeeze out something hit the publish button trying to impress myself, to be extra excruciating.

so lenghty and descriptive entries stop here, atleast for the moment. updates of blog would now be as simple as like the following:

-watched all the major boxoffice hits. transformers, terminator, hp.(remind me, id left out one or two)
-reread band of brothers, the third time.
-stopped reading kennysia.
-marked my first visit to genting after such a long time, i still need to bribe the lastime i went into the casino.
-realized suddenly mirana, fluffy and eveready(their name changes over time) grew alot bigger.
-realized my new lighter, engraved "fucking good cash if found, my name and number"
was actually 3 months back and there are scratches here and there already.
-in love with Cromok's music.
-in love with Dokken's music.
-words that change the world, he said you must learn to love.
-and this is a random saturday night at work.

Absurd Reality.

There online I talked to a friend, hoping to find out about the accident which took place in Kampar.

"I dunno anything, don't ask me."

"I thought you're supposed to know since you're studying in Kampar and you're friends with them also."

"yes indeed, it was my car, and I was the one driving."

Love, is a verb.

I've always been a quiet listener to a friend of mine, who, being emotional during most of the time, spilling out stories about her shattered relationship with the boyfriend, they seem to go on and off a lot of times and yet things never changed, with the girl arguing about the boy's rather willingness to play online games than going out for a show, and the boy's complains about her being a selfish control freak. Both of them engage frequently in never ending quarrels, with either one pulling the plug by saying "okay that's enough.", hence, forget but not forgive. Problems lie domant for awhile, and follow by a deeper misunderstanding later on. The cycle goes on never ending.

Trust me I never bring up the topic for a gender debate, I hope you all will get my drift of what I'm trying to interpret here. It's moments out of time of what I've experience myself that encapsulated a lifetime's worth of hard won wisdom, and I'm still learning.

I've personally went through similar situations like this, I guess we all do, each time we quarrel we build up our own defensive walls, purpose to side on ourselves, and at best effort trying to win over, we could stand with victory over the fight, but however something which we did not realize is the shattering of the relationship. Demands of "Why can't you spend more time with me?" "Why can't you just be more affectionate?", they are often the demands in a relationship, but affection and intimacy are products of love, of mutual understanding.

Hollywood have their own definition for love, and we are all affected and our paradigm towards the subject would be something like, love is act of reciprocation, we love because we want to be loved. Love is a feeling, I feel good being with you, and I love you, to them love is a noun..

But however after my experience over some strange moments of clarity I've come to conclude that, love is a verb instead of a noun, we don't love because we wanted to be loved, instead we love because we love. It's just out of our control whether or not it will be reciprocated, and what would be my best advice to you if one day you come telling me you're having problems over relationships again and you need solution? Well I'd say, Love him.

What says the Goose that laid Golden Eggs.

The fable is the story told about a poor farmer who discovered that his pet a goose, lays one glittering golden egg everyday. The farmer and the wife soon filled their own minds with greed and thought that they werent getting rich fast enough. Thinking the bird must be made of gold inside, they cut the goose open, but when they did, they lost everything.

The famous Aesop's fable was initially a moral teaching which put an illustration to the scene "those who want too much lose everything". However what I found slightly more interesting behind the fable is the teaching of what would eventually be named the "P/PC balance" theory by leadership guru Stephen Covey, P for production, PC for production capabilities, perhaps I'm gonna tell another story about golden eggs here, of a machines operator in a factory, he works very hard earning for a chance of promotion, and he produces at an optimum level, without downtime, no maintenance, he runs the machine twenty four hours a day. Production rate was phenomenal, and quickly he got a promotion.

Now think that he has a successor to the job, someone took over him for his old position, what he inherited a sick goose, worn out machines. He's responsible for machine replacement and all the high maintenance cost, he took all the blame and eventually got fired, his predecessor liquidated the asset, but the accounting system only reported unit production, costs and profit.

I suppose many of us are like the first machines operator, we see effectiveness from the golden egg paradigm, we see effectiveness a synonym for productivity and neglected the goose that lays golden eggs, we as an organization focus on our customers but neglected those who deal with our customers everyday, and individually us being in all kinds of relationship focus on the fruit of having an understanding parent, a trustable friend, a loving partner, an adorable child, and eventually we neglected the components which make up those strong relationships. It was said that true effectiveness lies in a balance between the goose and the golden eggs. A life pattern of too much a focus on the golden eggs often end up with losing the goose which produces golden eggs, hence, companies experience high turnover of human resources, break up in relationships, miscommunication and quarrel between family members.

I've been talking to a friend recently who just had a broke up with her boyfriend, she says "I've tried too hard, it's never gonna work, he just never grow up". Yes I understand how she felt, primarily hurting and tiring, when someone doesn't seems to change. And she gave up on the relationship. Whats to be said here is that, are we focusing too much on the golden eggs? We wanted our partners to be considerate, loving and caring, all are what we expect from a relationship, but somehow my suggestion here is that if it's never gonna work when we focus on the fruits instead of the tree, why not we try the other way? I would say that the one who puts passion in planting the tree will eventually get better fruits beared instead of keeping an eye counting how many mangoes there are on the tree.

I've came across friends who say similar things like "that guy right there is a jerk, making friends with him is a waste of time" or "I love being friends with him, he teaches me a lot." These are much said in our everyday life. We expect from friends, and as said by quaintly.net's latest entry, friendship comes cheap now days, all the self helps we tend to read come with titles such as "How to talk to anyone / Communication 101 / How to influence peoples / Speed of building friendships / Art of building your network) etc.(Names are made up by self) Do we need to read books to know how to make friends? where gone our originality? Where gone our sincerity? We shower ourselves so much with outside-in personality cosmetics, and we left aside the most fundamental component which builds friendships on a solid ground, our character. I even came across books such as "Speed of building up trust" What says here is that, how can we build up trust if our intention is to build up trust? Even if we do it won't be based on a solid foundation.

We see everything as a trade now, from young as kids we acted good infront of our parents so we would get more rewards from them or to show we are more adorable than our siblings, teenagers we make friends in order to show people we have a vast social circle, adults we love because we expect to be loved, in return. That answers why our birds ain't delivering golden eggs no more.

(Story of machine operators picked from Stephen R Covey - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People).

Hope you're alright.

It happened in a random afternoon when I got out of the train and was waiting for the shuttle bus at the bus stand, sat down beside a guy, took out my book and read, while stuffing my ear with some kinda emo triggering guitar piece.

The guy, he has that kind of emotion hanging on his face, depressed, tension, fear, low self esteem, insecurity, whatever you might call that. Besides him were all his luggage and one piece of them I recognized I supposed was his pair of sandals inside the plastic bag, the young looking guy seemed homeless. There he was holding a note book of a palm's size, G2 ink pen writing with full of emotions. The seats were made of two long metal railings, half of the space occupied by him and his luggage.

Suddenly he turned to me and said "Why are you disturbing me?" "Are you looking for a fight?" At first I was just not sure of his mumblings as I have my headset on, and he repeated the sentences in a louder tone, his body stiffing. "I'm waiting for a bus also don't you see?". In a harsh tone he said "You fucker peoples, leave me alone! Don't come near me, I'm dying and why can't you all leave me alone?!" and there he swung the notebook towards me and it hit really hard on my face, I wiped blood from my lips, again he said "Fuck off you peoples!" . I'm sure the guy I could beat him hands down if a fight was on, somehow something inside him kept me from doing that, he has mental problems, he needed help, I walked away in a silent.

I stood outside of the porch, still paying attention on his actions, his body still stiffed, hands shaking, continued writing on what I supposed was his suicide note. What came to mind that time was just something like "The guy right there needed help" despites of the pain on my bleeding lips. I went back to him. "Are you gonna disturb me again?" "No I'm here to ask if there's anything I can help you with? Are you okay?" And slowly I sitted beside him and started listening to whatever he has to spill. I cannot remember clearly of what he says, but he said something like he worked for politicians and he's over pressured and he has brain damage and kidney failures, and his brother once called the police and forced him into mental hospital. We went into the same bus, he stopped writing and he's more relaxed and he started to say things in a slower pace.

Before he get down the bus he said he's gonna look for some simple job and tries to live without worries, my last words to him were "I hope you're okay now, and feels better, God bless you."

By the way, through his way of talking, I found out later that the guy has mental illness, I'm in a sense of relief and feel happy that I did not take aggresion.

Think BIG.

I did a psychometric test number of years back, the results came out something like this "For a person like you, you'll need to be at the top to retain respect that peoples have for you", also for a number of years I never had an answer of what it really means, or I think its simply inaccurate a psycho test?

"Think Big And Kick Ass" A catchphrase borrowed from Donald Trump, simple as it says, yet how much it speaks out for a person like me, I like thinking big, I think Ferrari, I think properties, I think businesses, i know much peoples out there would have thought I'm impractical, however, we all have dreams, if we are to dream, we might as well dream big, if not why else dream at all? When you think Ferrari you will look for ways to realise your Ferrari, when you think Kancil, then you realise a Kancil, if you dare not even to dream, then how far can you go?

I like to read biographies, just recently I read about Lim Goh Tong's life, as many would have said that he led an interesting life, followed by something like this "I wish God would grant me a life as interesting too..", God treats everyone fairly, everyone are to have equal opportunities, in simple tense, our Mr. Tan Sri didn't get an interesting life, he chose to live an interesting life instead.

My way of working your way up, first come dreams and visions, second comes visualizing your dreams and draft your blueprint, third executing your orders, fourth and final steps is to get the results you want of life. Whatever your definiton of being succesful is, whether to live wealthy, live healthy, happy family, or living peacefully, my definition is financial freedom, and I see and drafted my blueprint, and is heading towards my goals. You're free to think I'm talking trash and give comments, but before doing that you think, what if today I'm Donald Trump speaking to you? =) that answers the starting question for this entry.

Gong Xi Fa Cai and may all of you have a prosperous 2008, year year got fish.
Have A Nice Day!

The lamest way to bring a draft written entry into publish.

Currently listening to Acoustic Alchemy - Reference Point.

This is something out of insomnia and the frust of midnight boredom.

There's always this trusted small drawer in the wardrobe, serves with full loyalty, silently keeping an account which tells of the growing process of a small town kid to a downtown average joe, take it a dumping bin for memorable junks, from place to place, i bring back those "junks" and dump them all into this small drawer eating up only a small space in the wardrobe, it could be an already empty no ink marker pen I brought back from NS once served great graffiti purpose, the torch I used, sea shells from beaches, long abandoned guitar picks, hearted earrings of the past, accessories, some really old photographs, CD collection, and my diaries(two of them).

I flipped through the diaries, they had me argued and tells of something like "do you remember? All these of what you said in the past?" Heck! seriously I don't. I'm usually a guy which tell peoples I cannot sing at all, to this date if you ask me for KTV tomorrow, it'll only be the fourth time I actually went into a kbox. But in the small history book I actually said something like I wanted to be a singer in Hong Kong and my favourite group, Twins?! there's also this day when I bet with a friend said I would get to know them in five years time, and I'm gonna train hard on my, vocal skills?!

Funny thing about the diaries though, of one small part, written starting from last page onwards, was the account of complaints about mama, it's usually the page with the ugliest handwriting ever as I often did them in furious moods, the sentences were something like "I hate YOU YOU YOU, you never let me go OUT OUT OUT to cyber cafe!" or "Why can't I get TV?!" .

I found also this little piece of cut wood from an old abandoned KJ projects back in primary school, remember was I cut mine wrongly and this guy had one extra and gave to me, on top was the ink mark written "handed to Sam by Fai, 4:23pm, Thursday, 1st of July, 1999, Fai's time".

Cut all this, I'm again typing a draft entry, this time I didn't bring back my thumb drive, not even my card reader. I'm thinking of a way to bring the entry out for publishing later, and when you feel weird about the display pict, you know also what's with it, the ugliest and lamest way to bring a draft written entry for publishing. Seldom or I can say I no longer write into my little history book, since then I store my memories(not all though =] ) into a walking diary, yea, a real walking one.

I'm having a sore throat and I totally lost my voice, definitely this served the best way to blurb things out, have a nice day everyone!

Karma.

How lame a comp without internet connection, I need to go out to cafe each time I wanted to blog, I'm not used to typing draft entries as some suggested me to do so, because my blog entries are all written based on current moods and feelings, so each time when I was about to bring a pre-edited entry to publish I'd mostly end up editing a large part or worst, dump the whole and write a new.

Few days back I had a talk with The Girl's dad, As thing I always like to do, to talk to old and experienced folks, peoples of different stages of life teach different things, even a kid in the playground with other small boys eventually makes you wonder how they could mix along so well, you also wonder why the olds could sit at the same old sofa all day long with only newspaper in hand, the middle stage they teaches you to be successful, you follow their footsteps and wouldn't lose track.

He told a story. "A bird injured and fell hard to the ground, half dead, a bull passed by and poo on the bird, the bird got angry, but eventually he couldn't do a thing, and not long after a wolf came by, pulled out the bird from the poo, and there ends the birdie's life." Simple yet meaningful was, the bird got angry of the bull, but eventually the poo kept him warm, and when he thought there's someone who came to save, but ended up being a prey to the wolf, what's bad to us at the current are not always bad as it says, what we think good at the moment aren't always good, either.

It's a world of karma effects, and that's what makes people says life a mirror and it reflects whatever we do. I watched The Protégé, I realized it's not only one which tells how drugs ruin life and one with the same old concept of police working undercover to bring down notorious gangs, instead the concept of karma, he's a drug lord, he never smokes and he don't take drugs, only thing is he sell drugs and he dominated the Hong Kong local heroin market, he has loads of money, only thing he did all this for expensive price, he has kidney failure and diabetes, and wife high blood pressure, and eventually he committed suicide soon after he's arrested.

Gtg, Have a nice day!!

Random Starbuck experience.

It's a usual afternoon with gloomy sky and little rain, having just sneaked out of work, I'm slowly sipping off my cappuccino at a Starbucks coffee bar nearby, it's indeed one of the world's greatest pleasures having time for relaxation, watching off pedestrians by passing the rather busy street in front of Low Yat Plaza, some of them carrying their new gadgets walking out of KL's largest IT mall in a very slow pace, some chit-chatting at tables near me, some with their working suits on and accompanied by their laptops, and I keep wondering how the working class could enjoy their life so well , and somehow I'm feeling they are having some Internet conference on going. I guess Malaysia is more or less influenced by the coffee cultures of those western developed countries, but somehow there's a huge distinctive phenomena between the developing countries like us and the developed western countries, that westerners would enjoy their life to the maximum despite of their job status, from general clerks, to supervisors, to department managers or maybe as CEO, no matter what position they're in they're serving they just get their fair amount of salaries, what I mean fair here is that, really fair wage rates with minimum over exploitation towards employees, so whether the job position is to be low ranking general clerks or managerial board of directors, so in those much developed countries, it's very normal to see peoples from all different backgrounds spending their own sweet time in coffee bars, whereas for a developing country like us, a relaxation at the coffee bar would seem rather luxurious, a simple words, its our luxury comparing theirs as necessity. But however I would say the rising coffee culture to be a good phenomena that we are catching up tailing their steps, despite off a Starbucks that cost nearly a 10times more in price, however, you're paying rm10 for a nice mug of cappuccino or the renowned hot chocolate, in exchange for a priceless time-slow-down shaking off hecticness, it's for you to judge whether it's a worth or no.

I'm having with me my cigarettes, a book written by Tim Harford, The Undercover Economist, and my cup of cappuccino added 4 packs of sugars to get the average-not-too-sweet-or-bitter taste, slowly sipping off the good taste of the coffee and writing this in a draft paper. =)

We all know that it's no merely a few years since coffee bars franchising industry rose to prominence and became a luxurious way of time passing entertainment for fellow Malaysians, it's also clearly that having one in almost every corner of the streets, somebody is making huge money behind all this, and I wonder how they managed to turn our random activity into necessity in no more than a few years.

To sort that out, I walked into the coffee bar, the place where the cash in counter located and had some observations. There I saw some racks, each has an open top container on them , inside were their different types of coffee beans, each type is said to be specially planted, by doing this they're passing us the thought that their coffee beans are special and nowhere else to be found, and most importantly, they're implanting an image into us that the coffee beans are the prime cost behind the whole business, but is that true? or our own conventional thinking tells us, the rent, expensive rents causes them to price their coffees at a slightly higher margin, but is that true also? Tim harford said in his book The Undercover Economist, stating it's not the expensive rents which cause coffee bars to overprice their product, rather, it's the scarcity of the product itself, which coffee bars set them on a high marginal selling price, thus causing the landlords to set the rent higher, this is simply because the landlords are not stupid and they just wanted to grab a fair share of the big pie. And those who worked before in coffee bars would probably know that coffee beans make up such a small proportion of the total cost of the business. So what is the cost that they needed to pass on to consumers like you and me? Think like this, if they simply charge you rm1 for your coffee, you would have thought that the whole coffee bar just don't have enough tables to occupy all their customers, Tim Harford says that, for restaurants business, table space is surely to be a huge business cost to be considered, the longer your customers occupy them the cost will be relatively higher too since it simply prevents the flow of new wave of customers. So it's normal to see that on restaurants menu, desserts are often expensive.

And if they are charging an expensive price on their coffee products, how would they attract the price savvy consumers? You would have think, again they would lower the price to achieve equilibrium since the price savvy consumers are purely price elastic, surely that would be a good idea, but they do not want to lose out their margins also, so from their menu I saw this little business trick that they use. They have a great variety of alternatives come to offer, a regular cup of cappuccino or hot chocolate is priced around rm10, you have the option to have some cream puffs on top of your coffee, that would cost you an extra few dollars, or you prefer adding caramels on top of your hot chocolate, that would cost you extra too, you might have thought that they are simply to offer you more varieties but what they are doing is actually to price target different group of consumers. The lavish ones simply wouldn't mind paying an extra few dollars just to feel special, and mind telling actually it's very true that every product of theirs costs almost the same for them to produce, just only they have set a wide price range, so thrify consumers like me would stick to the regular cup of cappuccino, they preserved their margins, thus they never lose out any consumer groups, how great.

I think it's time again for me to get my ass back to work, have a nice day!

Everything that can be invented has been invented.

This is a famous quote by Charles H. Duell, commissioner of the United States Patent and Trademark office, 1899. I suppose during that age planes, telephones, light bulbs were just on track with humble start outs. It's the age when people who lived during that time thought that was the time where humans are going through the biggest technological break through. It's the same that is happening today, in our time, where we have computers, Ipods, digicams, mobile phones, we the people of this generation are very much thinking of the same as those who lived around a hundred years ago.

Recently I've had some surveys with my fellow buddies, to different types of people I've asked different questions, but were merely questions of common sense like "Do you think getting rich today is actually harder than before?", or " Why not continue taking cerntain subjects(example: accounting) when you enter into Universities?" or "Do you think the insurance or direct selling industry still has its way out to acquire more market space?. And I got back answers, mostly negatives. Most of them told me exactly same as said Charles H. Duell, everything that can be invented has been invented, I remember exactly when I asked "Do you think getting rich today is harder than before?" He said, "Can you think of what humans still do not have at this era of technology revolution?", or when I asked about whether to take certain subject or avoid, the answers they were all saying certain subjects are oversupplying the workforce market, when I asked about the insurance or direct selling industry, they told me the market has failed and that kind of busineses are all things-of-a-past.

What I'm trying to say here is that, throughout the entire humans chronology and all the revolutions we once had, it's clearly to say that the human innovative quotient is always rated at infinite, it's just that our eyes cherish things that passed, instead of what's ahead. I read an article about an interview with the co founder of Yahoo! Jerry Yang, the interviewer asked him how he felt to have had a look once again at the very first generation Yahoo! home page that has been brought online during 1994, he just answered "Old, Yahoo! is a constant work in progress. We don't want to look back too much because you can lose sight of the future."

And I remember during a GP session in class, the teacher asked "What you'd do when one day all job professions to be taken over by programmable robots? That's the worst side of technology break through." during that moment we heard this from her the whole class was nearly to freak out, all were thinking about the uncertainties of the future and stuffs.. Months after then, I have a story to tell, The United States Of America, about 150 years ago, agriculture was their main industry, 90% of the workforce contributed to the industry, after all sorts of technological revolutions and breakthroughs, the States today needs only 3% of it's workforce in the agriculture industry to feed the mouths of every single Americans, so you're saying that all farmers had lost their jobs to the cropping machines? Lol.

And from some articles I read, there was this saying that the global education system has failed and the thoughts of studying to supply for the labour market it's the most naive thinking humans could have, it's been passed down generation to generation, parents telling the kids to study and get a good grade so they could work for a decent company when they graduates, instead of teaching them to harness their inner strength to the maximum, by just doing what they want, it's sad to hear when they say they just never want to take accounting as a subject because it's simply oversupplying the labour market, why is there no one to say they will take accounting as a subject just because it teaches the ability to differentiate their assets and liabilities? Or if you're saying IT graduates are oversupplying the labour market, then why still there so many more IT products yet to be invented and brings into market? The education system is teaching us to WORK instead of INNOVATE.

And times when I went to some talks about certain insurance companies, I would usually ask my friend to come along, and there he said, "I have relatives doing this, and he's not doing fine." pub! I'll say maybe this is your greatest opportunity missed out in life and who knows, the insurance industry in your eyes is a thing-of-a-past but their corporate leaders surely wouldn't agree and I see they are constantly introducing more and more products to the market, that says innovative quotient lied deep inside human brains are always rated infinite.

I found some quote somewhere on the Internet, read and judge for yourself, have a nice day. =)

The free world, no longer free?

I used to call Internet by the name "Free World" , somewhere you can voice out your opinions, express your feelings, and given a fair chance to have your own cyberspace though it's virtual. With YouTube, anyone can be a movie director with just a camera phone, with the rise of blogosphere, anyone could be an author, to the extent that they might take over Nan Yang or Sin Chew as the next great media or propaganda, surely it's a good thing, for most of us the citizens, but for "Some Peoples". It might not be.

The Internet came into dominance of our lives since only a few years ago, the rise of World Wide Web, and later the trend of uploading or publishing our own authored contents to the Internet. what's good is I can see, or at least I can hope, with all these technologies, we're striving towards a more democratic society, where each and everyone's opinion can be heard, unlike the old days, when we were only receivers of information, from the TV, from the press, thus, we were only hearing one side of the story for most of the time, news that were not pleasant to the eye were not seen, that were not pleasant to the ear were not heard, that's why during those days we heard only those like: "Malaysia is striving to become a successful fully developed nation in 2020!", or " Malaysia is doing extremely fine in foreign relations." Ugly stories were forever left untold. So it created a phenomena which everyone seems to had thumbs up for the government and their policies, not a few citizens complaint about anything. Those were the days.

"They" certainly have realized this, a revolution is happening, maybe it's getting harder and harder to put ugly happenings of the country in disguise, for example, thanks to the Free World plat form, I got to know that they have built some useless cheaplak toilets all over the city of KL with each worth RM400'000, more expensive than my house. =) Thanks to the Free World plat form also, I've watched the video of some Menteri Besar showing dirty hand sign in front of everyone with his uniform and name tag on. And some don't-know-what party buying election votes.

This is a photo published on Jeffooi.com citing an elderly man who was kneeling in front of the state exco of MCA, begging him to get things done.(article here). This photograph would never be published on most of the major press I suppose? However, WE the bloggers stands as a force to tell the world about what is happening, in a civilized society and as a so called democratic nation, every citizens deserves to know what is happening.

However, "they" are not stupid, I've read too much about bloggers being condemned or sued lately, I personally think that it's a process which they're cleaning up the mess telling each and everyone of us(bloggers), "watch you bloggers! mind your words, for you know who is STILL in control."

Lol, free world? Where is our freedom of speech? Where is our fundamental civil rights?
